Giovanni Express Shipping Opens Office in Lawrence

The “Viva Lawrence” collaboration between El Mundo Newspaper, the City of Lawrence and Eastern Bank has notched an early success with the growth of Giovanni Express Shipping.
The business, which offers door-to-door shipping to the Dominican Republic, benefits from the youthful energy of its founder, Giovanni E. Mejía. He saw Lawrence’s potential to be the springboard for a new commercial after reading about it in El Mundo, week after week.
“I kept hearing about Viva Lawrence, I kept seeing the photos in the paper and finally I just decided to check out the city for myself, but with a commercial purpose”, explains Mejia.
Like many people in Lawrence, Giovanni traces his roots to the island town of Santiago de los Caballeros.
“It was a no-brainer to have a satellite office in Lawrence. Most of the people from Lawrence have a connection to my own hometown. I would have never noticed if it hadn’t been for Viva Lawrence”, adds Mejia who’s business headquarters are in Roslindale.
“My business is three years old but I’ve been working in the shipping business for 10 years,” says Giovanni. “We’re always on time, we offer competitive prices and we’re focused on customer service. One day, we’re going to be a big business.”
“I’m very happy with my customers, and I want to get to know this historic city better and better and give it the excellent service it deserves,” Giovanni said of Lawrence. “I want to stay here forever.”

Giovanni Express Shipping is located in the heart of the community at 248B Broadway in Lawrence.
“I hope new customers come to know that we can ship things safely and securely of great value for their families back home, the ones we’re all working so hard for,” he said.
