In November 2014, after 21 seasons, the Roberto Clemente League and the Lawrence YMCA officially announced their partnership and joined forces in an effort to make the league more sustainable, allow more children to participate and continue the league’s success.
“Collaborations with an organization like the YMCA, which has such a strong presence in our community, can only ensure continued success for the Roberto Clemente league” says Isabel Melendez, founder of the league.
“Our partnership will re-enforce our missions of developing our children through physical activity and social responsibility”, says Julian Villegas-Executive Director.
Last season, the Roberto Clemente League which is catered to boys and girls ages 4-12, had close to 200 participants and 12 teams.
With the Lawrence YMCA as a partner this season, the League hopes to enroll over 250 participants.
The League focuses on providing players and their families the opportunity to provide healthy and fun social activities for them, as well as develop players who are interested in playing competitively.
REGISTRATIONS FOR 2014 SEASON Began on March 19 and run until April 4, 2014 at the Lawrence YMCA, 40 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA.
