Boston Stronger and Stronger
Few readers will forget the events at this time last year when two bombs exploded at the finish line of the 117th Boston Marathon, tragically killing three and injuring 264.
Our beloved city fell under siege as shaken residents struggled to comprehend the incredible and developing events.
Subsequently, the suspects, brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were identified by the FBI and the city was shut down for a second time while the manhunt led to Watertown, where a fierce firefight ensured.
In the aftermath, our courageous city came together to both mourn its loss and commemorate its bravery. The motto “Boston Strong” was coined to describe our solidarity and determination.
In the end, the terrorists did not triumph.
Though marked by remembrances, this year’s Marathon will go on as normal, and it is the next step in the city’s healing process. Thousands of supporters will again line the route to cheer on the biggest ever field of runners as they make their way to a freshly painted finish line in a rebuilt Copley Square.
United by our perseverance, this year’s Patriot’s Day Celebration shows that Boston is growing stronger and stronger.
