Promoting the fact that The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) is the only college in Massachusetts to offer degree programs in opticianry and that in Boston opticians are among the highest paid in the country, several BFIT advocates took to the airwaves last Sunday.
Appearing from left to right on Urban Update (Ch. 7, NBC – WHDH) were: Anghelo Guevara, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Tech Class of 2015 and now a Licensed Optician at South End Community Health Center; Gisele Soares, a student class of 2016, and working as an Apprentice Optician at a national optical chain; host Byron Barnett and Professor Blair Wong, the founding Chair of the Eye Health Technology Department at “The Ben”.
