Boston Medical Professional selected to 17 member advisory board

Oswald “Oz” Mondejar, Sr. VP of Mission and Advocacy at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and Partners HealthCare at Home was recently appointed to the new 17 member U.S. Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities, a key provision of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

The announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez. Not only is Oz a well-known and beloved member of the Latino community for his many volunteer work, but he has been recognized as a regional and national leader for his commitment to workforce development for the community with disabilities.

“It’s an honor to be selected for this committee and I look forward to working with my colleagues to foster awareness that hiring from the community with disabilities is more than just the right thing to do, it’s good business”, said Mondejar.

His role in the creation of the “Working Partners Program”, a first of its kind public-private partnership between the Massachusetts Rehab Commission (MRC) and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network(SRN) which builds pathways to job opportunities through close collaboration of the career advisors, potential employers and qualified candidates has been lauded as a successful model for job creation.

His work on this program as well as a lifetime of mentoring and advocacy led to his recognition as a White House “Champion of Change in Disability Employment” this past October.
