Boston, MA—May 16, 2016— Hundreds of supporters convened this morning at the Boston Seaport Hotel Monday morning to highlight the success of Roca’s transformative model for high-risk young people, with featured guests that included a nation-leading criminal justice reformer serving as San Francisco area District Attorney and Governor Charles D. Baker.

Roca’s 11th annual breakfast welcomed supporters across the greater Boston community and shed light on the challenges Roca faces as it works to transform the current criminal justice system by working with high-risk young people and help them leave the cycle of poverty and incarceration.

“Our focus required us to sharpen our mission, our theory of change and our model, so that we can help the highest risk young men transform their lives,” said Molly Baldwin, Founder & CEO, Roca.

In 2015, Roca helped 659 young men in 21 communities improve their lives, with 84 percent of them staying with Roca throughout the year. Based on Roca’s data-driven model, they have helped 88 percent of participants avoid new technical violations, 93 percent have no new arrests and 95 percent had no new incarcerations.

Roca’s efforts also help provide participants with necessary skills to help them maintain jobs in his or her community, and reported 89 percent of Roca participants retained employment for 90 days, and 87 percent for 180 days.
