Lawrence, MA.- The successful collaboration between El Mundo, Eastern Bank, Cambridge College and the City of Lawrence to focus on the positives of the city of Lawrence was on full display last week.

Over 120 gathered at Rio’s Lounge to celebrate the many feel-good stories that have been highlighted over the past year and also to preview an upcoming special day at Fenway Park.

“It was so inspiring to meet the young middle school students who will be representing Lawrence on the field at Fenway Park at El Mundo’s Latino Youth Recognition Day later this month”, said Mayor Dan Rivera.

On June 24th, twenty academic all-stars from the Lawrence public middle-schools will be honored moments before the Sox take on the Texas Ranger. Sox Latino players will hand each student a certificate of recognition in front of over 30,000 fans.

As an added treat, Esperanza Academy student Yamilette Espada will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch.

Head of school Chris Wilson and members of the administration will be on hand to cheer her on.

More information on this memorable day in upcoming editions of El Mundo.

Bob Rivers, President and COO of Eastern Bank made it an even sweeter moment when he announced the bank would be making a $100 donation to each student to start a savings account for college.
